week four of 52…gratitude

Friday, January 27th, 2012

this week’s theme was gratitude.  i figured it would be an easy theme.  i am crazy thankful for so much.  what is proving to be hard for me is putting as much effort into this project as i should.  it sucks to admit.  i keep waiting until the last minute to take my picture.  i am going to do better.  this is a fun project and i need to make it fun.

i had no idea what i was going to do this week.  then about half way through the week i looked up and it was right in front of me.  thank goodness ayden was chicken enough to be in the same position after i grabbed my camera.  we watch scary movies in my house.  ayden watches quite a few with us.  there are boundaries.  but i probably let him watch scarier movies than most 11 year olds.  who isn’t thankful to have someone to grab on to during a scary movie?  and in turn, i am beyond thankful for the two amazing guys in my life.  wouldn’t be much of a life without them.

my image on top.  nic’s on the bottom.  check out nic’s blog here.

and yay!  an image from mr. wilson this week!

he says he is thankful for my love:)  awwwww.  (lego design by ayden)

next week’s theme is oops.  this one will be fun.

sweeeeet Lorelai…bum bum bum

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

ok, so that’s not exactly how the song goes.  but being the dork that i am, i can’t say her name in my head without putting it to song.  my goodness, i anxiously awaited this little girl’s arrival since the day i delivered her mom and dad’s wedding thank you cards.  tricia was beyond excited when she let me in on the (little known at that time) news.  you may remember tricia and chris’ wedding almost a year ago.  they are such a wonderful couple.  they knew that they wanted to expand their family.  and boy, they wasted no time!  a little over a week ago, sweet lorelai arrived.

when i finally got to meet her, at six days old, lorelai was so teeny and beautiful with her flawless skin.  seriously, little editing was needed with this babe.  she was a dream to photograph.  totally content all swaddled up and when she fell asleep, she really slept.  i cannot wait until i get to visit again…without my camera…just to snuggle her.

tricia and chris, i am so so happy for you guys.  you are already, as i’m sure taylor would agree, amazing parents.  miss lorelai is one lucky duck.  xoxo

week three of 52…warm

Friday, January 20th, 2012

quick post this week.  this week’s theme was warm.  not much warmer than a steamy bathroom after a hot shower.  love a hot shower.  any who, check out nic’s post here

love nic's mug. some super cool chick must have given it to her a couple Christmases ago;)

next week’s theme is gratitude.

now off to the airport to pick up my much missed better half.  yippee!

perfect little babe kelsey

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

normally i like to do newborn sessions within their first week.  you wouldn’t think a few days would make a difference but i’m telling you, that is the time when they are pretty much guaranteed to eat and sleep. and sleep hard.  miss kelsey was about 2 and a half weeks when we did her newborn session.  and what do you know, mom andrea said kelsey had decided to change her schedule a few days prior and was pretty much ready to party the whole time i was there.  don’t get me wrong.  she was still an absolutely perfect little one.  cuddly, tiny, and completely beautiful.  she was just happier being held than in any position i put her in.  nearing time for me to leave, she finally conked out.  i hated having to leave when i did but my not-so-little one would not have appreciated a late pick up from school.

thank you andrea, for allowing me to document this new and amazing time in your family’s life.  can’t wait until next time!

her room is so bright and happy.

kelsey is the 5th generation to be rocked in this chair. how cool is that?

week two of 52…stripes

Friday, January 13th, 2012

this week’s theme was stripes.  and staying true to my style, i waited until the last minute.  last night in fact.  not sure where this week went, but it flew by in my house.  certainly looking forward to the long weekend.  my image first, nicholle’s second.

short story behind my image.  you know how there are those simple things that your significant other does that just warm your heart.  silly little things that really have nothing to do with you.  well, my dear husband is an ironer.  a darn good one too.  i am not.  a squirt bottle and the dryer is how i get wrinkles out.  i love watching him iron.

check out nic’s blog here.  no picture from mr. wilson this week…he was too busy ironing i guess:)

next week’s theme…warm

week one of 52…feather

Friday, January 6th, 2012

a couple days ago, my long distance friend nicholle of nicholle goodnight photography asked if i would do a 52 week project with her.  one image every friday.  we would rotate weekly deciding the theme.  and it could be interpreted however we’d like. we would each post each others image with our own on our blogs.  well heck yeah.  i love following projects like these from some of my favorite photogs.  365 day, 52 week, 12 month, 10 on 10.  i just love them.  i am the world’s worst at taking pictures and never doing anything with them if i am not being held accountable.  so i am super excited about this project.  it is merely to keep us creative.  push each other.  hold each other accountable:)  each friday we will announce the next week’s theme.  we would love for anyone who wants to join us, to do so at any time.  take a picture with your phone, point and shoot, dSLR…doesn’t matter!  (think i’ve got mr. wilson convinced to start next week)  just email your image to me…brandy@asparagusstudio.com…i will give you credit (and/or watermark it yourself) and post it on friday.

this week nicholle chose the theme.  Feather.  i knew immediately that i was not going to be about to interpret this any way other than literally.  finding a feather in our house was no difficult task.  a few weeks ago, mr. wilson decided to take his “big” coat out of the closet and wash it for the cold days ahead.  it’s a big puffy down coat.  welp, the washing machine ate it.  the zipper got caught behind the drum and nearly ripped it in half.  besides the fact that this sucks because it was  a nice coat, i am still finding feathers floating around whenever i sweep the house.  those boogers are hard to get rid of!  so with this project there is a very thin silver lining to the situation right?  he probably doesn’t think so, but whatever…  i knew i wanted to catch the feather floating.  i waited until the last minute.  late yesterday afternoon.  at the brightest time of day, my house has horrible lighting.  i spend a while tossing a few feathers and then jumping back to try to catch them mid air.  i’m pretty tickled with the result.

nic’s image on the left. mine on the right.  hopefully next week i’ll be able to add at least one new person’s image.  hop over to nic’s blog to check out her post here.

next week’s theme is stripes.
