my three newest loves…vicki, courtney, & olivia

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

have you ever felt like you have known someone forever before actually meeting them…or even speaking to them for that matter?  max and becky have been dear, dear friends of mr. wilson’s for years.  we had discussed a hundred times to meet at carowinds, have dinner, or just at the park so the kids could play.  never happened… until FINALLY this past weekend.  i’m telling you, this photography stuff is the best excuse to follow through and catch up (or finally meet) with people.

max and becky have three crazy beautiful daughters…they’re like little dolls.  vicki is 10 and twins courtney and olivia, 7.  i immediately fell for these little girls.  each one with a different, yet equally captivating personality.  for this shoot, mom and dad wanted new “head shots” for vicki’s portfolio (i’ll be able to say i knew her when…) as well as images of all three for Christmas cards.  honestly the head shot thing totally made me nervous.  not something i had done before.  but once they explained that they wanted more candid shots of vicki just being vicki, i knew it was totally do-able.  after all, clients being themselves is what i strive to capture.

max and becky, it was beyond a pleasure to finally meet you guys.  i can see why you mean so much to mr.wilson.  hope you enjoy your peek, it is more of post dedicated to all three…figured that might go over better:)  i hope i captured vicki’s “sparkle” the way you envisioned…  xoxo

introducing…(drum roll sound)…perfect little Lou

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

ok, actually this little guy’s name is Reece.  which is a wonderful name.  it’s just that while beautiful mama Bethaney was pregnant, big brother Brody decided on the name “Lou”, and well, it has just kind of stuck.

i have been anticipating Reece/Lou’s arrival since i had the pleasure of doing a family session for these guys a few months ago.  Bethaney was sure then that Lou wouldn’t wait until his due date to arrive.  she was right…ten days early, they welcomed their newest addition.  i know i sound like a broken record…but dude, i love babies.  i love newborn sessions.  i love their sounds, their smell, everything.  be still my heart…

i also have to say that i love first time big siblings.  watching the curiosity, the protectiveness, even the little signs of jealousy (it’s only natural).  other than his Mario cards and Papa John’s website, Brody didn’t want to talk about anything but Lou…and i’m telling you, that boy can talk.  he showed me Lou’s room, his bin of pacifiers, and “all Lou’s presents”.  he is an amazing big brother already.

and now Reece, or Lou…whichever you call him, he is nothing less than perfect…

p.s. the crazy cute creature hats are from my talented and dear friend at joretta natural knits

happy 11th year to Ayden…this means i’m getting old

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

a post dedicated to my little love.  partly to embarrass him, partly because it gave me an excuse to go through his baby albums and get all girly teary eyed.  11 years ago, as a scared nineteen year old, God gave me Ayden.  because of him, i have become brave and patient and discovered that i could love someone far beyond the limits i thought were set on my heart.  i am so so proud of the little man he is becoming.

Ayden over the last 11 years…mostly pre-digital and roughly scanned mind you…but still darn cute…

Christy, Raymond, & the Cedar of Lebanon

Sunday, September 4th, 2011

i have never, as a photographer or guest, witnessed such a beautiful display of two different traditions and cultures uniting as i did at Christy and Raymond’s wedding.  the wedding was held at FENCE.  their vows said under the Cedar of Lebanon.  this had been Christy’s favorite place on her frequent walks at FENCE, having no idea the name of  this giant tree with it’s sweet little rosettes.  or that it was native to Lebanon, the birthplace of Raymond, whom she had just began to get to know.  she brought him there on their first date and he nonchalantly told her that “they had those back home”.  long story short (because i am sure i could never do it justice) Christy and Raymond fell in love.  and what better place to be married than right under this tree that had played such an almost fateful part in their relationship.

it was such a amazing day.  mild temps, a slight breeze.  full of dancing and singing… such a happy celebration.  with the help of the wonderful (and handsome) Mr. Wilson, we shot until there was absolutely no light left.

Christy and Raymond, i wish you guys all the happiness in the world as you venture out on the newest chapter of your lives.  thank you for allowing me to be a part your day. xoxo
