Eliza and Troy…toothless and flippin’ adorable

Friday, July 22nd, 2011

so i absolutely love mom Alicia for wanting to capture what most think of, as a quite awkward time in their kids’ lives. she has not one, but two little ones missing their front teeth. Eliza, who was the birthday girl at our shoot, lost her’s like every other seven year old. poor Troy on the other hand…his were accidentally knocked out. but dude, this boy is proud. it was all i could do to stop him from shouting CHEEEEESE every time i pointed the camera at him. truthfully i could only giggle and snap away.

i think i love photographing children most of all. that’s just were my heart is. these two were so full of energy…lots o’ spunk. sure, i made them sit here, stand there, race to “the big metal thing”…but their interactions were so honest when i gave them no direction at all. hugs, giggles, stink eyes (directed at me a few times).

thank you Alicia, for being awesome enough to want silly…real photos. hope you enjoy your peek…

Bethaney, Denton, Brody…and Lou

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Bethaney called me several weeks ago about scheduling a family session.  Due in September, she wanted to document this oh-so exciting time in her family’s life but was not a big fan of the whole “maternity, daddy kissing the belly” type shots.  at that point i was like phew…me either!

the morning of the shoot i woke up and checked the weather in Bristol…60% chance of rain.  crud.  it had taken us a while to figure out a time that worked for everyone already.  rescheduling was not looking promising.  so with the the craziness of southern summer rain, we decided to go ahead and give it a shot.  when i arrived the sun was shining.  big fluffy white clouds.  just lovely.  though we knew the rain could start at any minute, so we got down to business.  so i did.  i sit down and start chatting with sweet little Brody…who by the way, has named his new brother “Lou” (short for Luigi, you know, Mario’s brother).  and well, i sat right down in goose poop.  boy do i know how to make a good first impression.

we explored a few different spots around the park.  and while the rain held off…the humidity did not.  dude, it was muggy.  like sweaty hot.  and let me tell you, sweaty bangs are not pretty.  and then i look at Bethaney, with her cute as pie belly, and she is fine.  picture perfect and totally game for the next place we trekked to.

thank you Bethaney and Denton for enduring the July heat and letting me hang out for a while.  you have the loveliest little family and i am sure that Lou will be a perfect addition…

tee tiny Kendall…

Monday, July 4th, 2011

beautiful Kendall.  all five days of her.  so sweet and tiny but with three older siblings, i’m sure she is going to have to learn to hold her own before long.  she is the latest addition to Ladda and Jason’s wonderful family.  Big brother Taylor, big sister Ava, and (until a couple days ago, the baby of the family) big sister Madison.  coming from a big family myself, i know how lucky Kendall is to have been brought into this family.  so many people to love her… and boy do they.  this family is so tight knit…Taylor and Ava were so eager to help whenever needed.  and Madison, well Madison is certainly learning to deal with not being the baby anymore, but she loves to be right in the swing of it.  if it’s going on, she needs to check it out.

thank you Ladda and Jason for welcoming me into your home and for letting me hang out and experience the love that overflows from there.  hope you enjoy this little peek of your sweet sweet Kendall…

refusing to sleep when i first arrived...

just had to include a little bit of Madison...

i think this is my favorite shot. even if no one else's. in between Ava and Madison's beds.
