birthday girl Lily

Tuesday, May 24th, 2011

Lily, the daughter of  my amazing friend Kina, turned one this month.  she was surrounded by family, friends, and lots of pink.  lots of cool pink…vintage-y… handmade and inspired.  exactly the look that i imagine for my imaginary daughter’s party.  Kina is by far the craftiest and most creative person i know.  she’s always been that way.  seriously…years ago as roomies, there was very little in our house that wasn’t refurbished or homemade.

point being…Kina is super cool…got it, ok good.  now Lily, sweet Lily, with her bright eyes and chubby cheeks  is such a beautiful happy baby.  she was the bell of the ball.

Kina, hope you enjoy these few shots from your little one’s big day…  xoxoxo

Becky, Josh, & Riggs…love me some Riggs

Becky and Josh are two of the greatest people i know.  seriously…they are so much fun, so kind, such easy subjects!  i’ve known these guys for gosh…over ten years now…they were high school sweethearts, Clemson alumni (we’ll forgive them for that), one of those couples that you just always knew were meant to be.

when Becky inquired about a family session i was so darn excited.  not only does this camera allow me to meet so many new people, it also seems to help me catch up with those people that i don’t spend nearly enough time with.  this was also my first time actually meeting little Riggs…crazy cute, overflowing with energy Riggs.  yes, i am as ashamed as i should be for waiting until he was two.  i was bound and determined (as usual) for this little guy to like me.  when i arrived at their house, Riggs was playing quite shy…giving me that coy little look while hiding behind his parents.  i asked him to show me all his cool toys in his room and he obliged.  he showed off his basketball skills until the ball “accidentally” bounced off the backboard right into my head.  i laughed…he laughed…i had him.  though i had to dodge bouncy balls to the head the rest of the day, we were pals.

Becky and i planned to start this session at their home and then ride over to Furman’s beautiful campus.  we rescheduled once due to rain but this was a beautiful day…a beautiful day for Furman to have their graduation ceremony and be closed to the public!  needless to say, neither of us was aware of this.  a little bummed and losing light, Josh pulled off at a little school with a big playing field…we thought we’d give it a shot.  worked out perfect…plenty of room for Riggs to run, blow bubbles…and throw bouncy balls…

Becky and Josh…loved spending the afternoon with you…hope you enjoy your peek!
