boutique photography and children’s clothing unite!

brandy here…with spring fast approaching, Easter is just around the corner.  as a parent, i know that times may be few and far between that we get to “play dress up” with our kids…to get them to wear what we want them to and to stay clean while doing so.  (well really, they are kids so we shouldn’t ask  this task of them too often i guess.)  but anyway, Easter is definitely one of those times.  most years i can even get ayden to wear a tie…atleast for an hour or so!  and by no means am i saying that Easter boils down to what our children are wearing…but really…isn’t it a perk!?

so my friend jenniraye and i had a little brainstorm and decided that for such an occasion, we would join forces this year.  her absolutely adorable children’s boutique, honey child and my (and miss nicholle’s) photography business.  honey child and asparagus…  hmmm, that kind of sounds really unappetizing.  but it will be fabulous, i promise!

thanks to a wee little push from a friend.. my abby..

so.. hi.. it’s me, nicholle… this morning i woke to a super foggy morning and tom saying “see you this evening”.. i was like, “WHAT?”  .. totally forgot about his plans for the day..  i’d planned on doing some work today and then spending the evening with Abby doing our annual Oscar thing.. hope to get some good pictures from it too..  scratch that!  I was a bit annoyed with him..  poor guy..

okay.. back to this..  we have had a lot of fog lately.. and I’ve been wanting to take pictures in this awesome fog for a while now and i posted that remark on facebook.. well, a very Green-Loving friend said, “you have kids, use them”.. hm.. well, i thought, nah.. but then I just did it.. threw some clothes on me – asked abby if she was up to it.. pulled out a white dress her grandma Lenore bought for her and an orange “thing”.. what do you call those???  that I got at a dinner with some AWESOME ladies in abingdon a couple of Christmases ago.. When i got the orange fabric, I said, OH.. i will be using this in a photo session..yep!

I ALSO have a new house.. with NOTHING on the walls.. and a super cool table with nearly the same color orange in one room.. just a pop of color.. well, i thought.. this might actually be really cool.. within 8 minutes – Abby and I were outside doing a photo session – truly an Oscar-esque day for Abby.. 10 minutes later we were back inside.. and I immediately started editing these.. about 30 interruptions later (three kids at home on a foggy day not really conducive to work)..

perfectly abby.. perfect for my house.. and perfect for me to remember her at 5.. THANK YOU KAREN!!!!  for your comment… for making me stick to my own rules.. make it fun and not stressful… i owe you a session of your own little princess…

i’m going to get that one in a split canvas.. i think.. but I also love this one…. oh.. decisions!

a birthday boy.. mister collin..

nicholle here – brandy wanted to do this post, but i told her i wanted to.. it was almost a knock-down fight.. – i am a lot meaner and stronger.. we just adore this family.. and this little dude big guy turns SEVEN today!!!

last weekend, I flew in to Bristol to do a few sessions.. this little impromptu “session” was completely last minute.. although I hoped to get these boys in front of the camera again – we all had a very busy weekend and didn’t want to stress mom Katy any more.. but a few hours before my flight, we squeezed in about 15 minutes…

i adore this boy.. he is sweet and kind and funny – a fantastic kid…  and i just LOVE him..

this time i kind of let them just hang out and be silly.. so we got a lot of crazy goofy faces.. and a bunch of pictures of them together…Connor was telling a joke.. i don’t remember what it was, but he couldn’t quite get it out before Collin would start laughing..

the tattoos on Connor’s hand were from the Collin’s MARIO KART party the day before.. i watched Katy put them on him and didn’t even think!  but it is perfect for these!!

i love that one.. Collin sweet and handsome.. Connor – scrunched up nose and ready to get me.. SO them!!

Collin was still on a sugar high from the day before.. i think they both were.. jumping and getting some serious height!!!

the sun and Collin’s eyes were NOT getting along on this day.. poor guy..  normally not a shot i would keep, but OMG.. Connor – cracked me up.. showing the tattoos..

new product…oh so excited!

brandy here…just thought i would take a minute and show off a new product we are offering.  now that we include digital images in some of our packages, we wanted a super cool way to present them.  and boy did we find it.  these cd cases can be fully customized using photos from your session.  they are so perty, they become yet another way to display your favorite photo….

totally shelf worthy…

wichita made it on good morning america

so i’m sitting there watching Good Morning America with my cup of coffee enjoying the quiet – and i see an ambulance with Sedgewick County on the screen – the winter weather we are having in Wichita made the news.. pretty cool…

schools are closed, swimming lessons canceled – cooper is sick anyway… it is still snowing a bit and as tom is shoveling the walk way and attempting to find the cars (because we can not fit in the garage still)..  I am trying to convince tom to pop over to SuperTarget real quick and grab some snow pants for Abby… me thinks he will not …

i think he should stay home.. there is no road.. but there is no ice

cooper abby emily.

nicholle here – tis been a while since i’ve had a chance to get my camera out and take pictures.. finally got it out earlier this week.. feels so nice!

the kids are doing great – cooper is loving riding the school bus and loves his school.. Abby loves her class and has been to many birthday parties.. emily – well, emily is just a hot mess.. she misses preschool.. and so do i!   We really are pleased with our neighborhood and all that Wichita has to offer.. I’m hoping to sneak off to a great restaurant soon.. we LOVE the zoo and the science museum and spend a lot of time there and at the Y… We’ve been in our new house for about two weeks.. our belongings were delivered and we have been unpacking as best we can with the crazy number of snow days.. more on the way tomorrow, but we were able to get outside and play in the leftovers from last week today.

i’m finally getting caught up with some orders and work .. didn’t realize how much i missed it.  ALSO getting around to ordering things from our session with Brandy in November.. lots of new walls to fill here!  can’t wait to finalize decisions and get things hung.. i have a very different view on ordering sessions… NOW, i need to fly brandy to me and have her help!!!

check this out.. our neighbor has a HUGE great dane.. it is large.. and I grew up with great danes.. it’s a beautiful dog.. i didn’t get a great picture of her, but i love it still..
