Chloe and sister Cassidy.. a serious case of the giggles

Sunday, September 26th, 2010

early this summer I got an email from mom Valeria about a family session – we found a weekend that worked and got them on the calendar.. After she filled out our little questionnaire – i knew the family was going to be a lot of fun.. i mean..  two girls – a year apart.. who love dancing, dressing up and FISHING.. now.. that is an awesome combination!!!  Then a few days later, I was at a little get together in my neighborhood and Valeria was there – just random small town type of stuff!  Super nice.. super friendly.. fun to get a chance to meet like that!

we are all about being laid back and fun on our sessions.. and these sisters were awesome… so were their parents..  Poor Chloe got attacked by mosquitoes – but was still laughing and an awesome sport.  Cassidy was so funny – I can not imagine the laughter that must go on in your home!   Normally the first few minutes of a session are a bit stiff – I’m trying to figure out all the personalities – not this family – instant real smiles, real love, real fun..  I must say though, Scott was a trooper with this girly group!!!

i must say.. this gallery is going to be difficult to narrow.. so many wonderful images.. here are just a few of my favorites!!!

and cassidy alone..

Chloe – the bitten.. poor thing.. her little legs had squeeto bites all over them..

more sister nonsense.. i was laughing as much as they were..

a serious one.. who knows what i said to get these expressions.. but i love the outcome

and a quick family..

thanks for having me come out and capture you guys… i really enjoyed myself.. even if the girls do think I am a bit crazy..

louis.. on a cooler day

Friday, September 24th, 2010

In August, we attempted a family session for louis and family.  Remember how insanely hot it was for a few weeks in late July/August – like NEVER even cooled off at night..  We were out at the Virginian on the course and poor little Louis was sweating – and we’d only been outside for 5 minutes or so..  it was just too hot.  I looked at Stevan and Alison and said, let’s reschedule and try this again when it’s a bit cooler.  I think Stevan was the happiest to hear those words.  We always keep a few spots open for reschedules for sick kids/weather.. We found a time that worked for them – and all were happy to go cool down!   still a few cute ones from that mini hot session, here..

A little over a month later, we met at the course again – Louis was in a fabulous mood (after he was able to run free!) .. he is such a boy.. a happy boy who loves to run up hills and zoom back down..  he loves his daddy and gives the sweetest smiles to his mommy.. what an awesome guy.. i can’t wait to see how much he changes for our session in November.. and for his TWO year session – in Charleston in January..

a bunch of my favorites..

here he goes.. all out…

he doesn’t miss a thing.. for now, he stops at the tall grasses.. but i bet soon we will dash right through.

see how his little foot is up in the air in this one.. ready to take off.. that is sooo him.. he just slows down to change directions!  i love his chunky arms and hands.. still a babe..

a bit of a tickle from dad..  i got some cute families with all of you looking cute and at the camera.. but this one really made me smile!.

i love this one.. look how little he looks here!  it is beautiful in color too.. but i love it like this.

and how cute is this.. his little curls.. shadow.. arm.. sweetie..

so glad we rescheduled!!!!!  you will love whole collection.. they are great..

freddi and brett… and their awesome kids..

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

gosh.. this session was a long time in the planning.. freddi scheduled back in – like well, like 6 or 8 months ago I think!  we thought and thought of ideas and places and finally settled on their home.. Having kids very similar temperaments and ages to Paxton and Claire, I just thought home was the best chance we had to get one where the kids felt comfortable and their little personalities would be able to shine.. PLUS.. I knew we only had a very small window of time before they would both be dying to get back in to their comfy clothes.. (brett too!)..

when i got there everyone was almost ready – we ran outside, did a few individuals, a few brother and sister, and then a few family.. despite the numerous mosquitoes, we got some wonderful images!!!  Brett’s mom, Sarah (oh, dear – i don’t know if she is Sara or Sarah – please forgive!) was able to sit in on a few snaps at the end.. it was great to see all of you again – and thanks for letting me hang out after – so hard to turn down a glass of red!

here is Claire.. now.. i do have some of her with an adorable real smile.. but this one.. OH it just gets me.. it is sooo her to me..  (hopefully her mom will like it too!)

and Mr. Paxton..

and then this one of Claire was a special request from Freddi.. but if Claire caught wind of the plan, we knew there was no way we could get her to put the dress on..  miraculously, i got her to not only put the dress on, but slowly, we worked our way outside for a few pictures..  because, well, it was all CLAIRE’S idea..

and a cute one of the two.. i have a couple fun ones also.. but this is sweet.. traditional, but sweet..  I did get some good family ones too – but those will wait..

lucy.. finally.. worth the wait..

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

wendy, lucy’s mom, called me the day before her session was originally scheduled to say that Lucy fell and hurt her lip.. we rescheduled – I mean, a 14 month old can’t have her pictures take with a fat lip!!!…  then the morning of her reschedule I arrived, realized immediately that although I’d never met Lucy’s parents I had seen them perform at the Improve at the Highlands Festival.. I was a bit caught off guard and instantly began replaying their skits in my head – a bit difficult to take them seriously.. i was hoping they were as much fun as they seemed to be on stage.. and then I took one look at darling Lucy and her little eyes were pink and sleepy..  you could just tell that she was not feeling well.. Poor Girl.. I was beginning to take it personally by this point..  we got our calendars out and searched for a tiny bit of time to fit Lucy in..  Luckily I had one tiny morning spot open and so did they..  A gorgeous Saturday morning I headed to their home and Lucy, now 15 months old, was ready.. and such a great little happy girl.

i loved meeting this little family.. and lucy and I hit it off.. in fact, she wanted to sit on my lap and chill..  she is so sweet – with a funny fearless personality and amazing parents..

and sweet lucy – cutie little girl!!

and one more family..  i love just the love in this one..

i’m so we waited until lucy was not broken and was feeling well..  these were worth it!

ada, bella, ivy and wes.. willow trees, feathers, rocks, and red leaves

Sunday, September 19th, 2010

when ivy booked a session for her adorable little family I was super excited – her girls are so cute and always adorably dressed.  Of course each time I ask where the outfits came from, the response is “my mom made them”.. UGH .. REALLY?  adorable ..    Her husband, Wes, is such a great dad and I knew we would have a great time – they are a really sweet little family.  The problem was, we couldn’t think of anywhere to have the session.  a few weeks before the session, Ivy had an idea – with their 9th anniversary approaching they were hoping to use this session as part of their anniversary gift to each other.. soooo the traditional gift for the 9th Anniversary is Willow..  Operation  “Willow tree search” was on!!!   i found a few spots, and we settled on a park in Bristol..  It turned out to be a perfect little spot.

I’ve been around the girls many times – and well, let’s just say they just look at me like I’m crazy most of the time..  I was a bit nervous about how this would go – I didn’t want pictures of terrified little girls just staring at me!  Oh My gosh, once I got to hang out with them for a few minutes – their awesome personalities came through!!!  Bella was bringing me all kinds of presents – rocks, leaves, feathers..  And Ada was completely happy and funny.. she loves to pose – and I mean kind of the total body-hands-on-face posing.. she had me laughing from the moment I put my camera up to take the first image..  we worked with it and i got some great images of the family and the girls.. I had a wonderful time getting to know them!

the girls and the willow..

i love this of Bella.. she’s a doll.. seriously.. a tiny little doll

and shy Ada.  (those are the dresses that Ivy’s mom made.. gorgeous!)

and one more of Ada.. the scrunchy nose.. love it…

and yep.. got a couple great family ones.. but i’ll save those just for you guys!

ella.. three months already

Saturday, September 18th, 2010

baby planners are absolutely wonderful, but man, these babies are growing up way too fast for me.  I really could not believe that baby Ella was already hitting the 3 month milestone.. doesn’t her newborn post seem like yesterday? take a look back here – or just look at the top of the blog – that is her!.  i love photographing this age – they are just tiny and cute and can’t go anywhere!!   As with every session we try to work around what is best for the kiddos – and for Miss Ella, that was 8:30 in the morning!  Wow.. okay.. but mom Tammy knew what she was talking about.  Ella was a dream to photograph.   She is the happiest little thing.. talking and cooing.. laughing and always on the search for her mom..

check out her lashes.. and that adorable chunky chin!

and look how big… three months… all this change in just 3 months..

what a fun way to start that day!  adorable baby

by the way.. i just love that little dress..

kathy, sam, mia, & cooper :: love the joy in this house

Thursday, September 16th, 2010

we met kathy, sam, mia, and little cooper at their new home outside of dc.  lovely home…perfect setting for our session.  such a kind and generous family.  kathy and sam were so accommodating…even offering dinner.  which would have been awesome if a certain unfortunate event (eh hum…nic) hadn’t kept us from obliging.  we also had the pleasure of meeting auntie erin, who was visiting from boston…adding even more merriment to this home.  mia is sooo full of energy…smiles…and curls.  curls to die for.  and little cooper, with his bright curious eyes, will melt your heart.

we had so much fun hanging out with you guys for the afternoon.  thank you kathy and sam, for welcoming us into your home…for letting us play with the kids and snap a few pictures along the way.   i hope there is a rain check for the wine and dinner!  we hope you love…

holly, michael, daniel, & rebecca :: airplanes and a tutu

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

we met holly and her wonderful little family at a beautiful park near Chantilly, VA.  it was a bit of a chilly morning for nic and i, who are used to the temps a little further south.  however, with three year old daniel to chase around, it didn’t take long to break a sweat.

our session with this family was an important one indeed…this was the introduction of daniel’s new sis…sweet little rebecca.  at eight weeks, she has these perfectly pinchable cheeks that your thumb and pointer finger are just drawn to.  we really did try to refrain…but to no avail.  doting dad michael, also took part in this session.  we had the whole happy family.

thank you holly and michael for sharing your beautiful family with us…we enjoyed it so!  a little peek…

ohhh, i told you she was sweet!

beautiful mom and daughter
