cooper’s birthday :: greenville and asheville weekend

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

we had a wonderful weekend in greenville, SC.  nearly every trip we take to greenville includes a stop at the biltmore in Asheville.  i love it, the kids love it – it’s the best place to stop and stretch our legs.  there is always a craft for the kids to do at the farm – this time it was pinwheels.  the kids love seeing the different flowers and of course, the ice cream is so yummy!   we stopped on the way down and on the way back… here are some from the stop on the way down.. HOT.. through the garden – to the farm to visit with the chickies..

cooper wanted to go to the awesome science museum in greenville for his birthday… it is so amazing.. the girls had a fabulous time.. cooper and cousin Ayden had a blast.. i want to go with out the kids and really take a look around..

abby and emily found a huge light bright.

.

then emily was in love with these little shoes in the japanese home..

abby had a blast pulling herself up on the different pully chair things..

and cooper and ayden could have spent all day playing in this water world..

then time for some birthday cake!!!  check out this awesome cake Brandy, yes, our Brandy made for Cooper!!!!

see the key chain on his arm – he wanted a house key for his birthday!!  he’s so neat.

a bit of a break – and then – time to attack grandpa brad!

and.. of course, on the way home – another stop at the biltmore..

emily was in a MOOD!! but i L.O.V.E this picture.. i think i will convert it to black and white and get it big!!

happy to be home.. happy to have some rain!

lilly :: two dresses, a bow, a baby, and a big brother

Saturday, July 24th, 2010

when i showed up at lilly’s house, she was the typical 3 1/2 year old – full of independence, cute as can be, fantastic big smile, and an opinion. it’s so funny how this age can sense what we want them to do – and they use it against us…(note the baby doll in the picture – but it turned out soooo sweet and such a beautiful picture of Lilly).. Lilly was a sweetheart and probably would have been fine taking pictures all day long – gorgeous blond hair, blue eyes… one of her big brothers, Rowan, got in on the picture time a bit too.. So sorry I nearly broke his head with mine, luckily we both have hard heads!

here are just a few for mimi to peek .. for our tiny little session – some beautiful results

i just wonder what she’s going to look like in 10 years.. she’s just a doll

and big brother.. loved seeing them interact – and fight over camera time!

and just one of her – still a babe.. but not for long..

oh.. gosh.. i’m so going to go give my little ones hugs.. they have been difficult this evening.. and editing this post was just what I needed to remember how sweet and tiny they are – and how they are only babies for just so long..

thanks mimi for having me out to capture lilly at this age..

no work, all play :: washington dc

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

So last week while Nicholle was working diligently getting asparagus ready for launch, Ayden and I, along with Brad (my metro savior) and Elaine headed off for a little vaca in dc.  Being that my son is a little history buff… he has a huge admiration for President Lincoln… he and I decided to forgo our usual trip to the beach for a more educational venture.  I hadn’t been to our nation’s capitol since I was a child and I must say the city has become much more tiring.  We squeezed in as many sights as possible and with the exception of Ayden being loudly reprimanded by a museum guard for attempting to carry in his McDonalds cup and my accidental…ummm…flashing of the National Cathedral (linen skirt, sudden gust of wind), I think the trip was a success.  Just a few snap shots…

we searched the air and space museum forever for this ship because Ayden KNEW it was there. finally found it in the very back of the bottom level of the gift shop.

walking the city...right before the "my feet hurt!" started

the national cathedral...breathtaking

arlington cemetary, both beautiful and heartbreaking

just because he's so darn cute

baby ross :: a perfect little eleven days old

Tuesday, July 20th, 2010

last week, after two whole days of my brace thingy off, i was determined to get some newbie time in with one of my favorite little families.  I photographed big brother, Noah, and Emily and Alex in May last year – their session was beautiful… when Emily contacted me – like 9 months ago – with the news that a baby was on the way – I could hardly keep the news!!!  So, when Emily let me know little Ross was ready for his session – there was no way I was not going to be able to do this!  Timing was not great for Brandy – she was in Washington DC on Vacation.  Luckily, April is able to help often when we need her – thank you for your steady, gentle hands with the babe!!!

FINALLY, I got to meet little ross – a perfect little guy with quite the love for sleep .. uninterrupted sleep, that is.. and that is very difficult to do when trying to get different images!   he just loves to be held and snoozy.. and that’s the problem with little newbies sometimes – who wants to put down a sleeping cozy newborn?..

here are a few of Ross..  i’m amazed how much he looks like noah – well, to me anyway.. his little eyes.. his little mouth

a smile.. a wee little smile!!

snoozing between set ups.. he looked so peaceful..  i just wanted to grab his little hands

and this one… this just makes me giggle.. i can’t wait to see his little personality develop..and look at all that gorgeous hair..

I know it’s a late post.. I hope Emily and Alex are still awake to see!!!

Thank you sooo much for having us over to photograph your family of FOUR!!!

asparagus studio

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

long dream coming true for Brandy and I!!!  we have been wanting to start our studio for quite a while, but the logistics with her living in Greenville, SC and me in Bristol, VA was really difficult to get worked out.  but we’ve done it!  we both have had our individual photography businesses for years now and the more and more we continued working together, the more sense it made to merge the two.

We know, we know.. Asparagus?  what?  why.. let’s just say about 7 or 8 years ago we were sitting down talking, drinking some wine…  talking about asparagus.. singing.. and it’s been our theme ever since.

Those of you who were loyal clients of us individually, will now have both of us!  this really opens our schedules to be able to handle our growing business.  we both have different strengths and loves.

we also are offering some new products..

like..

and just some cards..

not to mention new jewelry

and for our wedding clients

and – moving pictures along with your stills on DVD’s.. kind of “a day in the life” sessions.  These sessions typically last 3-4 hours.  we just hang out with you – at home – where ever!  Included is a DVD of video snippets and your images.  You also get an image box with 30 of your favorite images from the session mounted and with the MOST adorable borders!

as always – we love to travel

August 28/29 2010 – Augusta Georgia..

September 11/12 2010 – Washington DC

the same great attention you’ve always received, just now there are two of us!  we will still maintain our boutique studio feel and approach to your experience keeping editing times short and building lasting relationships

THANK YOU to all of our loyal clients!  we can not wait to see so many of you this holiday season!!!

we will have a “we are so freakin’ excited” promo coming up in the next couple of days..  stay tuned
