no, i didn’t do a session with Taylor Swift…but Kayla totally reminds me of her!  i’m sure she never hears that;)  Kayla was so sweet during our session.  she is a natural in front of the camera.  i kinda hate that saying but in this case it’s so true.  hope you enjoy your peek!!

p.s. i wish my hair looked like this if i had just gotten out of the shower and let it dry.

Kayla + Macy= super cute

i don’t do a lot of senior sessions.  i get a little freaked out photographing people on their own.  moments and interactions between families and couples are definitely my comfort zone.  but your senior year in high school really is such an important time in your life.  it’s the period between not quite being an adult and becoming an adult.  it is expected for you to make decisions that will shape your future during this time.  big decisions.  and you will be held accountable for those decisions.  kind of stresses me out thinking back on it.  other than my yearbook photo, i have no pictures of myself at that age.  not even a print of my awkward senior picture with my chin resting on my fist, donning the black v-neck pull over shirt (that i am assuming they still use?).  makes me a little sad.

i am so glad that i got to hang out with Macy for the afternoon and do my best to capture her at this time.  she is not a girly girl.  Macy is a tree climber.  she is silly, loves sports, and has a wonderful family behind her.  and she just happens to be oh so pretty.  like it was super hard to narrow down a gallery.  hope you enjoy your peek dear!  xoxo

and one with Macy and her friend Kayla…who’s post will be coming up real soon:)

trying to schedule senior sessions when school has just started is so difficult!  especially if said senior is involved in any sport.. and even worse if that sport is GOLF.. practice is non-stop.. and if it stops, then there are tournaments.. well, that was the difficulty with scheduling this session – BUT we finally figured it out!  jimmy and his mom drove in from Richlands for this session.. We met at Emory and Henry for our first part of the session and then moved to Glenrochie in Abingdon for the remainder – the VT game started at 8, so we were really pushing it!.. Guys are funny about having their picture taken a million times.. but I swear I make it fun.. the worst part about ALL boys over six years old – they have been taught that “cheese” smile and it’s hard to get past!  I have to say, this was not the problem with Jimmy..  He has a gorgeous smile – but I LOVE the smirk he has even more..  After just a few minutes, I felt like I’d known rita forever and had a lot in common with jimmy.. the guy loves to cook, loves golf..  on top of all that he has a great sense of humor..  it was hard to not just sit and chat with them…  I so enjoyed our time together!  thanks so much for driving in!

here is the smirk..

love this one..

i just really love this one..

and . i believe this one.. he is about to laugh AT me.. we always do a lot of laughing during my sessions.. but here, well, here, I think he was about to laugh at me!  or it could be because i was shooooo-ing his mom away!

i hope you guys love these!  more soon!

after our trip to DC tomorrow!!!!

kelsey.. senior year

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

kelsey’s mom, karen, called a while ago trying to schedule a senior session for her daughter, kelsey.  as most parents who are only familiar with the same-old-senior-pictures, she had a lot of questions for me on how our senior sessions worked.. and i am soooo glad she called.. i loved meeting kelsey.. she is so full of – well, how to say it with out sounding cheesy – but she is sooo full of life!  and happiness.. and such a relaxed fun girl!  and beautiful to top it all off..  she was so great in front of the camera – even if it was difficult to get her to be serious and not smile!  we did this all around Abingdon – and let me tell you – every 5 minutes or so, a car would go by and “KELSEY” would be shouted.. I swear the girl had a fan club!  This happened at least 7 times.

here are  a few from our session.. on kelsey’s first day of her Senior year!

i know this one looks really traditional – but you know, you HAVE to get take these too.. but it was sooo not planned.. i saw this spot and was like, “kelsey, sit go over THERE”.. and she did!  she was up for whatever!

and i just love her dress.. it mixes up the “traditional” feel of it!

yet another wardrobe change.. we moved quickly that evening – the clouds were DARK, but we got through the whole session.. i was shocked!!!

love this dress with this wall.. and her being a bit serious.. trust me the serious-ness lasted for just a moment

and another… gorgeous green eyes!

love this one.. she’s sooo dang pretty

i love senior sessions.. i just wish i could make them sign a contract where they have to come back in 10 years and let me take some pictures and do a follow up!  they all have such amazing lives ahead!!!

chloe :: senior 2011

Monday, August 9th, 2010

i’ve known chloe’s mom, selena for a little over 4 years.. she is a very dear friend.. i swear i remember when i met her, she said she had a 13 and a 14 year old.. how is it possible that Chloe is a senior?  Chloe also has an awesome eye for photography (although she is a nikon gal).. so when selena asked if she could book a senior session for Chloe, i was sooooo honored!!!!

we headed to Abingdon for this session – sent selena for several walks and had a really great time!  Chloe is very spiritual, very girl-y, and of course in to photography.. while we incorporated a bit of her interests in to the session, of course, that’s not in the peek!   we definitely achieved the “not-your-typical” senior session look.. i think we hit 4 locations – 3 changes..

love this.. chloe walking on this road in heels – can you tell how much fun we were having?  i TOLD you it would be gorgeous!!!   she is such fun

and.. love this.. hard to get her to be serious!

and – check out these lashes.. i’m a bit jealous.. okay.. totally jealous..

there are so many – soooo many great images!  Can’t wait for you to see the entire gallery!!
