ah man. i can’t believe Luke is a year old. he is just shy of walking. and i tell ya, i don’t think i could have kept up with him if he were. Peg and Alex have such a wonderful family and i have just loved getting to know them.

a whole year way too quickly…little Luke
Wednesday, January 9th, 2013Luke…handsome as ever at 8 months old
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012luke is growing oh so fast. as all babies do i suppose. now with a head full of red hair and the sweetest grin. we beat the heat a couple mornings ago (which was totally worth waking up at 5am!) for luke’s third installment of his 1 year package. i know all photographers say it, and it can be fairly cliche, but being able to watch little ones grow up really is a perk of this occupation. it almost makes you feel like a surrogate aunt or something. mazie was even calling me by name this visit. it gave me little butterflies in my belly each time. yeup…i am a softy.
Luke, three months later
Monday, March 26th, 2012i am pretty smitten with this little guy. he has grown and changed so much since his newborn session three months ago. i met Luke, his big sister Mazie, and their parents at their new house over the weekend. Mazie gave me the grand tour starting with her play room. She cooked a little for me, introduced me to her “boy pig”, amazed me with her puzzle assembly skills, and rolled a fast car with me.
then onto a few family shots in the living room. While it is still a work in progress, Peg and Alex have decorated the living room in a lovely very clean blue, white, and gray. too bad i’m posting a black and white so you can’t see it:)
and now Luke. Sweet, sweet Luke. while he wouldn’t really smile for me, i just love his little face. i think he must get more handsome by the day.
then we ventured out to a little area near their home that i can only call magical. there were these trees with light pink blossoms. i should know what they are, but i don’t. the tiny petals would float down from the branches. and with a little shake, they would fall like snow.
i longed to be Mazie’s age at this moment.
the newest addition to alex & peg’s clan…sweet little luke
Friday, December 30th, 2011i have been able to watch this family grow through pictures. nicholle did big sister mazie’s first year photos before we formed asparagus. so i was tickled when peg asked if i would do their newest addition. little luke arrived right before Christmas on a very special day…his sister mazie’s birthday! and i tell you, this little guy looks exactly like mazie two years ago. it’s really uncanny. he is such a wonderful baby. he didn’t sleep the entire session. but still happy as could be. barely a peep out of him the whole time. an awake newborn is a squirmy newborn, so posed shots were pretty much out of the question. posed newborn pictures are great, but at the same time, this is luke at 6 days old. captured exactly as he was. wide awake, happy, and curious. and isn’t that what it’s all about.
thank you peg and alex for letting me capture these moments for you. it was beyond a pleasure to finally meet you and your beautiful family.
sweet baby mason
Monday, June 27th, 2011in my book, there isn’t anything much better than a newborn. especially when he happens to be your brand spankin’ new nephew. the biggest perk… being able to prolong the session as long as i wanted. and boy did i. i am sure i held and ooo-ed and ahhh-ed over all 6lbs and something of him twice as long as i photographed him. he is just so perfect. perfect fingers. perfect toes. perfect squeaks and grunts.
when approaching a newborn session i really believe that less is more. i am not big on props. a couple baskets, maybe a pillow or two, and a few blankets. newborns are just so amazing on their own. i don’t want anything to deter from that. i love to document their little bits. the details that seem to completely change in a week. as a mom i know. i would never be able to picture my son with those wee little fingernails and sweet little creases in his wrists without those photos.
so now…introducing mason…
miss ella and a little bit of brayden :: a beautiful sunny day on the course
Sunday, March 6th, 2011brandy here… if there was ever a little girl to make me want to give my only child a sister…then gosh, Ella is that girl. she is the kind of baby that puts that happy knot in your belly when you see her. those eyes, those dimples… such a happy little one.
i was so excited to travel to Bristol to shoot the latest installment in her baby package (3 mos and 6 mos here). and on her 9 month birthday at that! she had grown so much since i had last seen her in November. sitting up and trying to put everything she could find in her mouth. her personality is so much bigger too. so we played out on the course for a bit…bright sun, a few tears, but a whole lot more laughter. watching her and big brother Brayden interact is the sweetest thing. while Brayden clearly likes his space…to Ella, the sun rises and sets in him. you can see it every time she looks at him.
thank you Tammy for allowing me to come up and play for a bit…your two little ones absolutely made my day.
adorable baby girl on aisle six.. or was it five… I can’t remember.. Addison at 6 months..
Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011goodness.. nicholle here.. this little babe is addison… at addison’s 3 month session (here), mom Ashley mentioned it might be fun to use Food City as a back drop for a few of the shots.. This family has deep ties with Food City, so it’s not like we just decided on Food City for fun – but because it has a real place in their life.. she mentioned it in jest almost, but I was like YEAH.. that will be perfect.. I LOVE using things that are not everyday.. With her SIX month session fast approaching and the horrible winter storms we’ve all been having – I was thrilled to have the store as a warm cozy place to take pictures, BUT WOULDN’T you know it – I land in Bristol and the weather is GORGEOUS.. that Saturday was absolutely beautiful.. so after Addison’s Grocery Store debut, we headed to the park for just a few minutes..
i walk in to Food City – exit 7 … and there they are – Ashley, Drew and a baby that resembled Addison, but was a good 20 + pounds.. i mean.. no way.. she can’t have grown this much!!! she wasn’t teeeny at her last session, but she was soooooo chunky.. her legs and belly.. she is solid happy girl.. and she was ALL smiles and then suddenly Ashley realized Addison had a strange color drool going on – and upon further investigation – ADDISON CUT HER FIRST TOOTH.. it was soooo cool!!!!!!!
here we go..
after the tooth cutting excitement, I asked to hold her just for a second.. HOLY Sack-o-potatoes Heavy!!! so.. i naturally, i had to put her on a pyramid of Sacks-o-potatoes… let me tell you, we were drawing quite the crowd!!!
love this one..
near the end of her Grocery Store happiness, Ashley was pulling out all the stops – i really enjoy seeing when moms and dads jump in to Mom and Dad mode and are fun and silly.. and then i love when the kids just look at them, like, “Really, WHAT are you doing??” personally, I think Addison just wanted a bit of cake!
we then headed to the park.. a few shots outdoors..
and the family…
love you little addison! hope you are enjoying the nice weather!!!
Look at little Mazie.. she’s turned in to a little girl.. in just a year..
Sunday, January 9th, 2011sooo.. nicholle here.. i remember the day Peg called me and asked about the baby package.. lots of questions.. and just a short while before Mazie was due… i remember the moment I saw Mazie for the first time – her parents so cautious and gentle with her.. her aunt right there – everyone watching every single moment. (see here.. newborn Mazie).. at three months, she was simply beautiful.. and happy.. and smiley.. ( and here at three months) .. at six months – well, more like 8 months by the time we got around to the session.. Mazie had developed this lovely little personality.. (almost eight months.. )…
well, here we are a full year later.. i have so enjoyed watching this family grow.. This session was the last session I did before I got on the plane and flew to Wichita.. It was the perfect session to end our year… Mazie once again, the center of all things – as every one-year-old should be.. her grandma and aunt were there.. mom and dad and of course.. her puppies.. even seeing them grow over the past year has been so cool..
when i got there, Mazie was chillin in a cozy as could be little outfit.. we just watched her for a bit.. and I snapped away as she worked the room..
and her crawling away.. i love her little toes.. they are always curled under.. so cute..
and.. mazie after wardrobe change #1.. holding on firmly to mom and dad’s hands..
and after yet another wardrobe change.. i love her in navy by the way.. she was most at ease reading her books and just hanging out.. i loved watching her.. look at her tiny little fingers.. you can really see them on the book below.. oh.. i love..
i am sure you all can see how much i’ve enjoyed this little girl.. she is a joy.. a sweet little girl.. i can’t imagine what she will be like in a year.. or just to see her walking..
i can’t believe how quickly that year went by..
baby ella… big guy brayden…
Friday, November 12th, 2010
in an attempt at Christmas pictures, brandy and i headed over to Tammy’s and Brandon’s house to see these cuties.. oh.. i mean, little ella is a dream.. and brayden has many many ideas on how he would like his picture taken – props, “get one of me right here and ella there”.. he even took brandy on a tour of his playground. Ella and I chilled out inside a bit longer. A quick peek at the kiddos – LOVED the purple and the dark of the bench.. perfect lighting and adorable kids!
here is ella – compare to the picture on top of the blog – that’s her just a few days old.. and we just did her 3 months session a little bit ago.. she’s has changed soooo much already!
don’t you want to just pick her up and cuddle.. i am in love with this little family
here is one from b and brays adventure outside – the mid speech and hands in pockets – love it.. so him
many many more tammy!!!
addison :: 3 months .. coos and chunky-ness
Monday, November 8th, 2010
a wee three months ago.. i met a six day old addison – remember – take a look here.. the three month session sneaks up so fast… i can’t believe how much addison has grown!!! she is all cheeks and chunky legs.. i also love at this age how the babies react to their mom’s voice (or singing in this case)… and coo and talk.. she was so adorable.
look at her chunky little hands.. she’s soooo cute
and her lil’ feets..
she is absolutely precious!
